Summer Institute

The Wheelock College Teacher Bound Summer Institute is a six week extensive college preparatory program. During the Summer Institute students are required to take subjects required by Upward Bound, including Math, Science, a Foreign Language, and Critical Reading and Writing. Academic courses are designed based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the Boston Citywide Learning Standards. They are intended not to replace, but to extend and amplify the academic content of the students’ schoolwork. Additionally, education courses and field placements introduce students to teaching professions.

For the duration of the Summer Institute our scholars are housed in Wheelock dorms (supervised by Resident Advisors), and are engaged in field placement and cultural enrichment activities.
